THIS WEEK’S ACTIVITIES (11/26 – 12/2)

SUNDAY:

Larry and Gloria Opgenorth and their children would like you to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with them in the church fellowship hall during coffee time after worship today.  We will have cake and coffee and cold drink.  All Sunday school classes will meet as usual, except the Sermon Discussion class.

Sunday School Classes meet immediately following the morning service.  If you need help in locating a class please stop at the Information Booth and someone will be there will assist you.

WEDNESDAY:

6:00 PM – Bell Choir Practice

6:30 – 7:30 PM – Bible Classes meet.

6:30 – 7:30 PM – Jr. High begins in Large Group in H.O.P. Room (Room 200)

6:30 – 7:30PM – Sr. High begins in Small Groups.

**@7:00 PM – Jr. High goes to Small Groups; Sr. High has Large Group (Room 210-211).

7:30 PM – Sanctuary Choir Practice.  Devotions – Cindy Hoitink; Prayer – Gary Gabrielse

7:30 PM – Table Tennis in the Fellowship Hall.

THURSDAY:

7:00 PM – Bruggink Circle Meets

10:00 AM – 2:30 PM – Pine Haven Women’s Auxiliary Christmas Craft & Bake Sale at Catalunya Restaurant (124 Pine Street, Sheboygan Falls).

 

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR EVERYONE!

Please remember that on Wednesdays, the doors will be locked at church; please ring the bell at the carport or kitchen door if you need to get into the building during the day. For Wednesday night programming, please also remember the carport door will be the only unlocked door.

Attention Hearts of Praise: We will be singing on Sunday, December 10th. We will have practice on Wednesday, November 29th, and Wednesday, December 6th, following choir practice at approximately 8:30 PM.

USHERS NEEDED:  There is a sign-up sheet at the Information Booth for ushers for 2018.  If you are willing to help usher next year, please stop by the Information Booth and sign up for the month that works best for you.  Thank You!

Mission of the Month:  The offerings received in November will be going to Tesoros de Dios – a Nicaraguan Special Needs Academy. The amount received to date is $210.00.  The offerings received in December will be going to Pine Haven.

Parents of children 3 year olds through fifth grade: The Children’s Christmas Service will be woven into the morning service this year on Sunday, December 17th.  Practice will be on Wednesday, December 13th, from 6:30 – 7:00 PM and on Saturday, December 16th, from 9:00 – 10:45 AM.

Sr. High Winter Retreat at Silver Birch – Feb. 23-25th – We are joining other WI RCA Churches (likely over 100 people) and diving into the theme:  ABIDE from John 15.  Sign-up, brochure & permission slip are on the Uth Board.  Cost is $60.  Money & Permission slip are due January 21st.

At the December 3rd Congregational Meeting we will select new people to serve as leaders here at FRC.  We cast lots from a double slate list of names for elder and deacon to serve on the Consistory.  This means that three names will be selected out of six.  A single slate of five names is presented and affirmed to serve as Pastoral Care Deacons.  Elder list is as follows: Brian Bruggink, Dean Hengst, Gary Huenink, Ed Hurlbutt, Tedd Mentink, and Lee Tempas.  Deacon list is as follows:  Luke Dykstra, Joel Harmeling, Brett Hoffmann, Luke Mills, Tim Swart, and Alan Wilterdink.  Pastoral Care Deacon list is as follows:  Aaron Daane, Al Harmeling, Kathy Hurlbutt, Grant Markus, and Gregg Staggs.  Please keep this as a matter of prayer and we thank these individuals for allowing their name on these lists.

Pastor Elijah is putting together a fundraiser for Christmas to reach out to 500 Mityana orphans to provide them with a hot meal, toys, and bibles. If you are interested in supporting this event please go to https://www.gofundme.com/gdgj3-give-a-child-Christmas

"Share the Holiday Spirit" Volunteer to ring bells for the Salvation Army at the Oostburg Piggly Wiggly. Call Dale or Mary Roerdink 564-3148 or register at Http://bttr.im/nyie7. The Music Department of SCCS invites you to join us for a celebration of Christmas. The high school band and choir will be presenting their annual Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 12th at 7:00 pm at the high school. The Elementary Christmas concert will be December 14th at 7:00 pm at the elementary school campus. Your also invited to come up and sing with us as we end our concert by singing the "Hallelujah" chorus.

 

Eernisse Circle – Are you interested in a Women’s Bible Study?  Our circle will welcome new members for the coming year.  Get to know the members already in the circle by joining us for our Christmas Dinner on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at 12:00 noon.  Cost will be $8.50 per person.  Please RSVP no later than Sunday, December 10th by calling Althea Ver Velde 920-564-2885 or e-mail avervelde@wi.rr.com.  Members bring a Christmas devotional and money for the Love Offering.

 

CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES

Fifth Graders:  We have a Making Spirits Bright event of service, fun, and food planned on Sunday, December 10th.  We will be partnering with our friends at Sheboygan County Food Bank and sorting food donated at Making Spirits Bright, then going through the park to see the lights, followed by a stop for supper on the way home.  Sign up and permission slips are needed.  Check out the High Five Board outside the Library for more information.

 

MEN’S MINISTRIES

The next Men’s Prayer Breakfast will be held this Saturday, December 2, at 6:00 AM at Judi’s Place in Oostburg.  Men of all ages are encouraged to attend.  Join us for a time of fellowship, prayer and food.  If you plan to attend please sign up at the Information Booth TODAY!  If you have questions contact Pastor Brian.

 

Pine Haven Women’s Auxiliary Christmas Craft & Bake Sale

Pray for Carol Voskuil as she awaits a treatment plan.

Pray for Nick Hilbelink that his body reacts well to his most recent treatment.

Pray for Mary Lammers that her chemo medicine will be effective and that the side effects will continue to be only minimal.

Pray for Gary DeMaster that the treatments he is receiving are effective with minimal side effects.

Pray for Tom Horn with his ongoing kidney dialysis and other health issues.

Pray for Roland Ten Haken who is now residing at Sharon Richardson in Sheboygan Falls.
