Hello Congregation, My name is Travis Hendrikse, and I'm currently enrolled in a psychology course at Concordia University Wisconsin.  As a part of this course, our professor challenged my group to create "blessing bags" that will positively impact the community around us.  My group decided to create these bags for children in the Ronald McDonald House of Milwaukee. This is where I need your help.  I'm looking for donations of toys, stuffed animals, coloring books, and other coloring supplies.  All these items need to be brand new because the children getting treatment are extremely susceptible to sickness.  I'll set up a donation table right outside the sanctuary where the items can be dropped off.  I will be accepting donations until November 5th.  If you have any questions, don't be afraid to send me an email @thendrikse40@gmail.com. God bless!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD – Sign-Up starts TODAY!!  Volunteers are ready at the table in the hallway to give all the info you need to pack a shoebox with gifts for a child. The boxes collected will be delivered in various locations around the world.  We are also accepting donations towards this ministry project if you'd like to do that instead.  Call Jess Schreurs (501-760-8878) or Sheri Hafeman (564-2106) if you have any questions.

Mission of the Month: The offerings received in October are going to Hurricane Relief in Puerto Rico.  We are partnering again with Praying Pelican Missions who led our area youth on their mission trip there last summer.  Their Puerto Rico leader Kevin Gamradt         is continuing to organize aid assistance to the churches the FRC Youth ministered to last summer: Rio Piedras FBC and Loiza Iglesia Bautista De Mediania Alta.  Immediate needs are water, building supplies and batteries.  For more details visit: www.prayingpelican missions.org/landing/mission-trip/irma#locations and select Puerto Rico.  The amount received to date is $2,645.00.

PARENTS OF 3 YEAR OLDS THROUGH 5TH GRADE: The kids will be singing during worship next Sunday, October 22nd.  They need to be in the Fellowship Hall by 8:40 AM, please.

"Team FRC" for the 8th Annual Oostburg Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is now forming!!  The groundwork has been laid for a float and display that would well represent us and the true "Reason for the season". Now we need people with various talents/gifts to pull it all together!  Contact Brenda Stecker (920-377-2017) or Cindy Hoitink (920-564-3150) for further details or to say "sign me up!"

FYI – 71 days until Christmas, 48 days until “Homes for the Holidays”. Do you know anyone who loves to decorate their home for Christmas and might be willing to open their home for “Homes for the Holidays” but hasn’t volunteered but might if asked?  Please help us by letting us know who you have in mind so they can be asked.  There is a sheet at the Information Booth for your suggestions or give any one of the Adelphia team a call.  Thanks!!   Audie Gabrielse-Breit, Kass Hoffmann, & Else’ Allen.

Love INC partner churches are teaming up to collect items for Hope Bags for victims of domestic violence.  An advocate from Safe Harbor arrives at the hospital with care, compassion and a Love INC Hope Bag.  If you'd like to support this Gap Ministry, please see the sheet at the Love INC booth for more details. FRC Oostburg is collecting, T-shirts, journals and stress balls. Any questions see Cindy Hoitink or Diane Joosse.

Enjoy a concert at Oostburg Christian Reformed Church on Friday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m.  Rachel (Zylstra) Walkinshaw will be performing her Songs of Faith and Doubting.  Freewill donations will be accepted, a portion of which will be donated to Anchor of Hope. Confessional, candid, and searching, Rachel's music over the years has found a home in church sanctuaries and in dimly-lit music bars alike.  Attending to themes of resonance--the difficulty and necessity of faith, the questioning of one's purpose, and the daily commitment of belief--she has compiled Songs of Faith and Doubting. It is a collection of theologically-bent originals and new hymn arrangements given to provoke worship, empathy, inspiration and conversation. She has presented this concert in whole or in part in cities as diverse as Dublin, New York, Austin, and Edinburgh, among others.

Rock the Block Christian Music Festival, Saturday, November 4, from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM at River Rock Community Church, 3836 Enterprise Drive in Sheboygan.  Brats, hamburgers, potato salad, desserts, drinks, etc. being served.
