Brian's areas of responsibility include adult education, men’s ministry, small groups and the Pastoral Care Elders ministry. He also participates in worship and other pastoral duties.

Brian grew up in the Reformed Church in America in Michigan and his first pastorate was in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan for one year and then transferred to Hope College in Holland, from which he graduated with a B.A. in Religion in 1983. Brian graduated from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan with a Master of Divinity degree in 1988.

Brian’s passion for ministry is in the area of adult discipleship. He is committed to helping people grow as they immerse themselves in a caring Christian community like that of the Acts 2 Church. He believes that involvement in small groups and adult education courses can play a very important part in the believer’s spiritual growth. He is committed to challenging believers to grow in their walk with Christ for the purpose of reaching the lost for Christ.

Brian takes a holistic approach to life and ministry. He believes that a person’s commitment to Christ should affect all aspects of life—including what people do with their recreation time. He models this in his own life. He is an avid outdoorsman and includes exercise as part of his weekly routine. His vision is for the Church to care for the whole person with the intent of leading them to know Christ and to grow in Christ.
